Giving thanks and counting our blessings

Happy Thanksgiving, World Vision friends and family! We've been counting our blessings all this week as a reminder of what we are truly thankful for. This post highlights blessings 1-6 from Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and also includes four more reasons we are giving thanks.

BLESSING #1: The people we serve -- children, families, and communities around the world.

BLESSING #2: The many faithful donors and supporters of World Vision’s work.

BLESSING #3: The many compassionate and beautiful children who remind us every day what it means to have a child-like faith in a God who loves us.

BLESSING #4: Rooftops over our heads.

BLESSING #5: Food in our bellies.

BLESSING #6: Prayers for provision for our neighbors, near and far, who currently endure without life's basics.

BLESSING #7: Our volunteers -- at concerts, at our offices, at churches, and around the world -- who serve alongside our staff.

BLESSING #8: Our many partners -- corporations, retail partners, artists, bloggers, and many more -- who help us reach the most vulnerable by providing their time, treasure, and talent to World Vision programs.

BLESSING #9: The 1 percent of federal funding that stretches to meet the needs of so many.

BLESSING #10. Our Lord Jesus Christ, who makes all things possible: "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." —James 1:17 (NIV)

As we gather with our friends and family members this Thanksgiving Day, we remember the reason for the work we do -- and those who make it possible. May you and your loved ones be richly blessed by God's grace and provision, and may the holiday season bring about many more reasons to keep on counting.

Thanks for sharing your blessings with us!
