Throughout November, six of our friends at the Harlem Globetrotters have been growing GOATees for a Good Cause … for goats!

Today, hear from Globetrotter Zeus McClurkin about his experience, and why goats and goatees this Giving Tuesday.

Being a part of something bigger than yourself is not easy when you're 6'8", 225lbs. I'm so blessed to be a member of the Harlem Globetrotters because I'm able to impact people far beyond my immediate reach. Since we have partnered with World Vision, our reach has been extended to communities and neighborhoods all around the world!

This month, I've been afforded the opportunity to be a part of the "GOATees" for a Good Cause campaign. Who knew that helping a child to dream could be as easy as not cutting your hair for a month?

If you imagine for a moment a steaming pot of water, just being brought to boil. As the hot water hits the air, it evaporates in a quick glance. That's a brief visualization of how long our lives on this earth can be. Keeping this in mind, you never know how long you have to positively impact someone. We should all do our best to do the most with the vapor that we've been given. Some have bigger vapors than others; I'm just trying to make sure that I make mine count.

Why Goats and Goatees?
By growing my goatee this month, I'm helping World Vision bring awareness to how a healthy goat can provide up to 16 glasses of milk a day. This can mean lifesaving nutrients for a family in need. Lifesaving! Families can also sell the surplus milk, yogurt, and cheese to buy essentials like medicine and school supplies for their children. Giving a goat is giving a family something very precious, which will help them far beyond their immediate needs, and provide for them years down the line.

This look for me is very new. A lot of people have been noticing that my hair is not how I usually keep it. But this is awesome because it gives me a platform to share about how people can do their part to help. It’s kind of cool to be a billboard for a good cause!
